Name that fish disease!

bonus point on correct treatment.

Patient is a neon tetra currently residing in 10 gallon tank with four (4) other neon tetras and a **bunch** of Cherry Red Shrimp.

This is a CRS species tank and the tetras are along for the ride Ph about 7.4, nitrite nitrate and ammonia are either zero or very close Gh and Kh both about 120.

no signs of stress and just noticed this problem.....

white on lower fins has been there Forever and has stayed constant...

Im not completely sure but it may be ich.

im not sure but it could be some kind of fungus. why dont you take the pic to a LFS that you trust and see what they have to say and how to get rid of it.

It actually looks like it is saprolegniosis.

Couldn't comment on the exact diagnosis beyond that, but Xero is probably right.

It is does not appear to be fuzzy as you would expect on with fungus and the red on the outside is not consistent w/ fungus.

I am guessing Lymphocystis.

if i was you i would do what that wikipedia link says. weekly bacteria treatment and see it that eventually kills the infection. but yea by what that the pic shows and what that like describes it looks like it is Lymphocystis. so i would treat it asap to see if you can get the fish to survive. if you have one i would put it into a hopsital tank and treat it. go to the LFS with the pic and ask for bacteria treatment. possiblly with something that has malachite green in it. but i might be wrong about using that. i am sure people here will tell you otherwise. keep a close eye on the other fish too because it would be best if you can catch it early. i think the others maybe able to catch this as well. so keep a close eye on them. hope this helps and the fish survives. oh yea one other thing i would do a water change too. maybe 2 every week or more until the fish look happier.
