I went to my local chain FS today to get some filter supplies and happened to walk by the beta cups....Usually all of these guys look quite depressed, and just pitiful....
Today, one of them went crazy when I walked by....like he was saying "look at me"....I walked over and he was flaring and swishing back and forth at me....none of the others even moved....
I took it as a sign....he needed a home....and he picked me....
So I have a new beta tank (3g) sitting on my desk at work....it's all his.
He's purple and burgandy, with some white on his venral fins, and on the "spines" that run through his tail. He was labeled as a Halfmoon Plakat.
I'll see if I can get a good picture to post, right now he's busy exploring his new home....
What kind of filtration (if any) do you use for Beta's? I put some mature media in the little filter that came with the tank, but he doesn't seem to like the current it generates.
Edited to add picture. Not the best picture, had to take it with my phone...but here's the pretty boy. This picture doesn't do him justice...he's more purple and marroon where this looks blue and red....he's very curious, active, and interactive!
