Okay, this is my mom's fish tank...she has had the tank and the fish for like 10 years now...I was just wondering what kind of fish is it?

it looks like apistogramma agassizii to me (agassiz's dwarf cichlid)

or a golden dwarf acara (nannacara anomala)

can i have another closer pic to dicide

I reckon its an agassiz's cichlid as well.

Looks more like a rift valley cichlid then an Apistogramma to me.

its a melanochromis species not sure which one, maybe freshmike will know.

what a melanochromis auratus( like a malawi golden but a bit under the weather )

my partner said it was yesterday but i over ruled her (now im in trouble thanks lateral lol )

It's not a melanochromis auratus because their are no dots on the tail. But at first glance it does look like a male.

Maybe a melenochromis chipokae male? I don't know too much about them but it looks like it could be one.

EDIT: Are there dots on the upper half of the tail?
I can't really tell by that picture. If there is then it's a male auratus, if not then it's probably a male chipokae.

After a closer look I think I see spots so...

I think it's a male Melanochromis Auratus.

Sorry for not replying sooner, I was out of town yesterday visiting family (went to the flea marker and scored a 20 gallon aquarium w/light strip, heater, and filter for $10.00) I will get you more pictures of the fish tonight....Thanks everyone for the replies!
