Bidding started at 5.00,I paid 15.00 .The coloring in that pic does him no justice, he has no green in him at all, he's a bright blue and yellow. I'm going to spawn him with one of my female orange plakats, since the orange will easily be dominated I'm hoping the fry will come out like him

Also, you said that all of your babies sold...were there bettas at the auction that didn't? As I said, I've never been to anything like that, so I'm clueless!

I think I got 13 or 14

It's unbelievable that some of the bettas didn't sell. But they didn't I couldn't take all of them (or trust me I would of!) The bettas that don't sell during the auction, can be bought for the minimum bid (usually 5 bucks) after the auction is over.Those that don't sell after that are shipped home to their owners.

I really,really thought I would be bringing some babies back home with me since I brought so many (10m 5f) and since there were actually award winning bettas being set on the "no bid" shelf But when it came time for my orangies, they went quick! I think everybody there took one, which is a major compliment to me. If I'd of brought more females they would have sold too (D'oh! I have a tankful of those little punks!)

The goldmine (from a breeding prospective) about my oranges is 2 things

They're a helluva challenge

And...
the orange will be lost in the first generation, so you can mix it into a line to perk up the finnage without losing the color you're striving for. Unless you breed orange to orange you will get absolutely no orange. So they're kind of like blanks if your breeding other colors.They won't destroy you're color or pattern.

I plan on breeding the masks with orange girls

I cannot truly express my feelings about these pics through words. Let me try... Your new fish are um... incredible? Stunning? Unbelivably gorgeous? Just wow. Really - WOW. You could not have picked better fish.

The show looked spectacular... I can only hope that there is an IBC show in Western Washington sometime in the near future.

Oh my, so many thoughts, so little time. I can't express myself! Grrr. I'm so jealous, but so very happy for you. You are definitely going to become a decent breeder, I can see this coming! It won't just be pet stores for you.
