All 3 died in a freak accident. They got stuck to the filter siphon. All three. I don't get it. I just got them at 7pm and they were found dead at 6am. Those fish were so tiny and so pretty.

You can see the oto in the background for scale on how small these guys were.

 sorry to hear about your loss. you're right, they were quite tiny and pretty. not really sure what to tell you about the filter, maybe someone else has a suggestion to fix it so when you get these little pretties the next time, the same tragedy won't happen...

You sure they died because of getting stuck in the filter syphon? Or did they die and then get sucked after death? My tank is mostly small fish and when I lose one they almost always end up stuck to my filter intake. Maybe you've got something else going on that caused their deaths.

I agree with Bob - they may have been sick before you got them. Tigers are pretty sensitive to water quality, so perhaps it wasn't so good at the store.

Also, the fish in the pic looks fairly emaciated. Perhaps it is just the angle of the photo, but if not, that may have contributed to their deaths.

I am going to agree with Julie and Bob as well. I have a tiger barb species tank and in my experience, when I add tigers they either die the first day or they live forever. I would guess that you picked up three sickly ones and lost them in the night. Also I think they look emaciated too. My guys have bulging bellies and are actually quite thick.

Thanx guys! Next time I plan to buy them I'll look for plumpy-lookin fellas.

So they either die the first day or live forever. Actually, not a bad deal.

I personally don't really understand how they could get sucked up into the tube??

I don't have ANY fish tiny enough to fit into the little slits in any of my 3 filter intake tubes and they are all different make filters too??

Help me to understand!?

Sorry though, about the fishies :-(

im goin with bob (and gang lol) but lets say that they did get sucked up... Mckay... you should buy a net and some wire and make a cage and put it around your filter toob, so fish can go in but bad stuff in water can :)

They didn't get "sucked up", per se. The filter tupe has some sort of extended grid at the end. I fond them dead stuck on there - like 3 pinatas.

That stinks. I've had to ply a barb and a cory off my filter intake. Not fun :(

Ahhh, I get it :*) sorry!

Hmmm, sounds like they did die first then, huh? And then they got stuck to it :-(

Sorry mate!!!! (I'm not british but I just LOVE saying that!! :hey: :*) :*)

I've also noticed that the smaller one's have a lot harder time moving to a new tank. Next time you go try to get bigger ones that have some meat on them. I hope you'll get more, my species tank is honestly really fun to watch!

I'll probably do that after I set up my 20g(L) community tank. Tiger barbs are awesome to watch when they're shoaling!
