Right guys, i bought a pair of bn's and they have supprised me by spawning a week after me picking them up... they beat me to even putting in their breeding cave and layed in my co2 difuser.. anyway, their currently sharing their tank with guppies, 3 corys, 3 ottos, and 2 glass cats.. i just wondered if they would be ok in here once hatched?

I also removed some that had fallen out of the difuser and put them in a net breeder in the outflow of the filter..

should i remove the other fish? or leave them be?

anyway heres a piccy too :)

what a brilliant place for you to see them develop. my bn first spawned 3 days after first meeting each other so i know what you mean when you dont expect it. if i were you id remove the male and the eggs in his 'cave' and place in a smaller tank with a mature filter, you will be able to bring up the fry easier there. that will mean you will be able to make sure the fry get all the nutrition they need. also regular water changes are definately needed as they produce a lot of waste.

hmm my male is very skittish i'm scared if i move him hes going to dislodge the eggs or kill them. i think i might see how he gets on with this batch in this tank and if no success i will move him into the 2foot i have. theres plenty of algae in there, and i'm feeding spurlina tabs, lettece etc, fingers crossed. also i cant move him as of yet if i decide to because i have 2 angels occupying the tank i need. they need to be sold :(

dont be too sure hes being skittish, its just there nature to protect and they seem this way. when i moved my male in some hollow bogwood with his eggs he managed to fall out, when i put him in the tank he just found his eggs and kept on protecting them. but in the end just do whats best for you. i still have 5 from when my bns spawned in my 500 litre with large cichlids!!!!

You jammy swine lol I;m delighted for you I had a pair for yrs and they never spawned so I;m actually quite jealous :good:

lol, i'm not sure that these are fertilised, i'm thinking its too small for them, but i will move them into the smaller 2 foot once i sell my angels, and hopefully i should have some babies!! they were a proactive breeding pair tho as they were taken into the garden centre with all their young and i spoke to the guy who brought them in :) so fingers crossed!!

wow. they must have been good at hiding! i'm not sure these are fertilised correctly, as the tiny area is hard for him to manuver and it looks as though one or two are turning white, i will move the pair once i sell my angels :)

if the majority of the eggs are still orange then i would expect them to still be fertile. luckily you will see the process of the developing too!

yeah they hatched, and then all swam out of the diffuser and havent seen another one since :/ but hopefully some little plecos wil appear soon!!!

My pair bred and the little uns stayed with dad for about a week before they swam off. they stayed under his belly in the roof of a cave. I saw a few for about a month after that - then nothing!

I shall be watching this space in hope of seeing some little bristle noses very soon! :hyper:
