So, I have decided to go through with my 180 gallon malawi tank  ...was going to just be mbuna, but, but, but....I want to keep Sammy and Jub-Jub along with Simon and his four wives in there as well :p ...So as it stands at the moment, it will be a fryeri / aulonocara / mbuna / loach / synodontis tank. This means of course that....(please don't sob too much wuv, Heather and Julie) I am going to be selling the frontosa...I already have a time tomorrow set up to bring them in...probably going to take a couple of trips :X ...heh heh.

So in the process of re-doing the 180, the 50 will also be re-done, the remaining tanganyikans from the 180 will be moved into the 50. Brichardi / leleupi / savoryi / julies and a couple of the plecos...probably the king tiger and the tiger...we'll see. Doing this should reduce some of my overstocking problems...not that they are problems now, but they certainly will be in a few months...40-some mbuna in a 50...heh heh. :*)

Then after I am done with those two...*pretends that it will be quick and painless* It's on to the 90....who is having some really weird cloud problems...has been for months now...*perplexed* I am a little frustrated with it, so I may just re-do the entire thing as well...I just want to be able to keep the fish that are in it...the ever famous O.B. Peacocks and Big Bird the gravy eater...not to mention that I would probably be strangled if I sold them too. Thinking of going sand in it....but dunno if I am ready for that again...had some probs before...

Anyway, thought I would do some progress pictures as I tear them apart...hopefully I remember to take more pics as I am in the midst of it....might get a little carried away and all  The best part of re-doing the 180 I think is going to be pulling the styro out from under the gravel (it turns the gravel pink :*) ) NO MORE PINK GRAVEL!!!

Here is the 180 as of tonight. :flex:

...and a really crappy picture of my 90 (embarrassed and confused as to why I am even posting this piece of crap) The heater is knocked off from the O.B.'s constantly beating the daylights out of each other....5 males...two dads and 3 sons...don't worry, they just do cichlid fights, not death matches...no one gets anything but their feelings hurt when Kyle shows them who is boss. Notice the water tests...trying to figure what the heck is going on.....stupid bloom, go figure this is my longest running tank too.

Think it would look better with sand? I don't like the gravel color anymore....

:edit: All the boys are hiding in this pic...they thought it was bedtime, because I turned off their light to take pics of the 180.... :p

Good luck with the teardown. :)

I like the gravel you have in the 90.
What color sand?

Whatever color you choose will look great. Can't wait to see more pics.

(first reply! woo-hoo! )

I think you should use sand or fine light coloured gravel in the 90, would look much nicer imho.

 :-( :-( :-( :-(

Whaa...whaaa...whaaaat?!?  :-(

I'm shocked! Completely shocked and at a loss for words!

So....I'm the only front keeper here now :dunno: *Sigh* just like it used to be :/ I stand alone,again...me and my frontosa :p

I'm absolutely floored! That was the LAST thing that I thought I would read when I clicked on this thread! Actually, I never even thought of it at all, I'm that shocked!!!

Are they gone already? :-(

I just love your tanks! I have been trying to find a frontosa for months now. I just haven't wanted to take the chance of having one shipped to me and pay those outrageous shipping costs. But its a mute point now that I have a breeding pair of Green Terrors and another of Angelfish. I'm going to need those other tank for all the fry!

Great tanks!

Keep in mind that they like to live in colonies, missy. Just in case you ever find some :)

Hmmm...

Looking at frontosa pictures.... :)

Starting to feel a little sad.... :(

Debates keeping a couple of them...

Wonders how angry they would be if they had to live in a 50 or 90....

Ugh, I had better get to work here...I have SOOOO much to do!!!

(can't wait to have all 9 clown loaches living together...The Loaches School of Cool! :p ) Okay, sorry, that was a bad one. :*)

Think it would be okay to keep 3 in a 50 with the other tangs??? I know it is acceptable, but....argh...when they get too big I will just move them again....poor fish...but I am just so excited to have a super lively 180!! :hyper:

Yeah, I was thinking of that after a while, but I need to get that monster under control...it's making my head hurt! :X

Quick decision...I am going to keep all of the burundi (6 bar, much prettier) with exception of Frankenstein the Destroyer...he is a mean mean man.
I know that 3 of them are females for sure....*wonders about the growth spurter* One might be a male....so 4 will stay, 4 of the smallest. Bummy included, we have too much history of her almost killing herself like 3 times. :p

Glad to hear it, I knew you were bluffing!!! :p

I wanted to cry out "What about our frontosa pond dreams,Chris?!? What about all of our plans?!?" :-(

:D
Ahh, now I feel better :D

"Frontosa Pond" *drools*

We would have to move to Texas for that....(freaking humid there though, have been to Houston...SOOO WET!!!) Tee hee, then you and Julie could become betta girlfriends...ope, another bad one, my puns are the worstest ever... :*)

How big was that pond gonna be again? 3000? Let's make it 10 :hyper:
