My Tank Hood.

Got a new hand buit tank approx 15 years old with no indications on make or country of origin etc im in need of a hood to fit it. it looks like it would have maybe had a lid at one point that fitted into the tank that would've sat on glass shelves see attached the mesurements on the INSIDE length is 901mm (35.5 inches) INSIDE wisth is 28.7mm (11.3 inches) The measurements on outside edges for length is 914mm (36 inches) and width is 30.5mm (12 inches)

So my question is should i get a hood to fit over the top or inside on the struts. Bearing in mind i have a 9 month old kitten and she goes wild when playing and tries to jump on top of the tank and sleeps up there when its warm.

Any links to websites with suitable lids would be much appreciated (I live in the UK)

I'm going to move your thread over to the Hardware and Do It Yourself section. You might get some interesting answers from the members who post there.

I doubt you will find the hood you need so why don't you make your own its quicker and cheaper.

Sheet of acrylic cut square out of it 2 hinges a and your done, minimalist tank top with feeding hatch or do you want it lit? Could always hang a pendant light above the acrylic it if you want it lit without building it all in the hood. Saves building a hood out of wood if you don't feel your DIY skills are up to it, if they are then its quite simple but you need to make the decision so that we can help one way or the other.

Just about to start building my hood. Found that pre made are very expensive and as my tank is not a show tank (4ft) I thought I would make one my self.
Bought the lighting kit from ebay for £10 and wood cost £15 so far.

If you are a DIY fanatic, I would suggest building one yourself.
