Hi Guys, I was cleaning my Eheim 2028 Prof. II filter when I droped the filter top on the floor, I broke the Tap Manifold Locking Lever (Part number 7354008) and now I am trying to unscrew the screws on the pump head and for the life of me I can not unscrew them. I really just want to do it my self and I don't want to buy a new filter head as it's an amazing filter and I have had it for 6 years and never had any problems.

I have a spare cheap filter from fleabay but it is noisy. Has anyone removed or managed to open up a filter head? I was looking around for damaged filters where the box was damaged but the top part (the part that does has the pump in it, that whole section) was still OK, but can't find any damaged one. A new part (the whole top part) costs £100+ new and I might as well get a second hand model for £60.

I really don't have the money to spend on a new filter at this time in my life or a second hand one, the current one is good but I can't adjust the flow of water and that part is needed to opne up the filter for cleaning.

So does anyone have an old damaged 2028/26 or have they managed to unscrew the top or any other advice? 3 guys have tried and the more they try the more the screw head becomes stripped. So I have stopped for now.

Get some pics up of all the screws your trying to undo. I think theres about 6 i had to remove before you can get inside theres 4 silver on the underside and two black on top. the you 'SHOULD' be able to remove the top casing from the bottom half.

I have attached the image, sorry it is not a good quality one but it's those screws you see at the corners, you can see one and the other is slightly cut off. It's those screws, 4 of them. I have tried WD40 but no luck. If I can't unscrew them I can't fix the head. I have managed to unscrew 1 but the other three are stuck and I mean stuck :(

Im not quite sure why there not coming out then, im guessing the thread on plastic its screwed into has gone. Might be worth taking out the screw which has come out then as your uscrewing the rest try an slightly pull it apart. Other than that im not sure without having infront of me to see exactly whats up.

Well finally managed to undo them, more like break them off actually, the screws were basically corroded, I bought a new section part number 7444440 (screws) and 7444430 (the top part) and it is back together and working fine for now and hopefully it will work fine for a long time. It only cost me £20 for those parts YAY...
