Avoid them.. if you wish to professionally breed livebearers, then individual tanks and well fed parent fish have always worked very well for me. If you have a community tank where you want a few more fish, then planting it well works wonders.

Hi everyone
Any tips on how to make breeding traps?
Thanks

A Quick and easy way to make a trap
1 / 8” round plastic mixing boll and 1/ plastic sheet of mesh from any craft shop.

Cut a peace of mesh of about 14”long x 4” wide roll up into a tube put a elastic band at the top and bottom of the tube .place into mixing boll put fish in centre with some plant. New born fry will swim throw the mesh.

Un ravelled plastic pot scourers used for washing up pots and pans they make a good spawning media For livebearers.I have used it many times it is one of the best ways of saving the young. the adults can’t get to the babies making it very difficult for them to get the fry

or just put some pot scourers at one end of your tank sooner or later you will find some fry hiding in there.

I have two guppies just about to give birth. I have a mat of hornwort floating in the tank ... will that be sufficient for babies? No time to order a trap at this point.

hornwort is a very good plant for the the fry to hide, Avoid shop brought traps they are way to smal.
a well planted tank works well the less adult fish in the tank the better the survival rate.
