they are pregnant... congrats. but i hope you're not seperating 'em yet! you have atleast 3 weeks!

I am new to this but does the dark gravid spots mean that they are, or can these be dark when there is no pregnancy? x

Oh I see, if thats the case I would say the top fish it may just be its colouring. I think the one below does look pregnant as its what my guppy looked like when I first got it. Its a bit fat too.lol!

Well if she has been pregant before and has males in the tank with her than she may be but way to early along for me to tell from that picture.

Dark gravid spots have never done anything but lie to me Bexx. I rely completely on shape, not size, as I explain in my thread on mollies. Mollies and swordtails are much alike in their response to carrying fry. A swordtail tends to stay a bit slimmer but otherwise they carry fry identically. You can reach my thread on a full cycle of one of my mollies by following the link I have called My Molly's Progress in my signature area.

Ditto
You cant rely on just a gravid spot.

Your fish are both slim. Ok swordtails dont tend to get as large as guppies when pregnant but the get larger than the one's in your pic's

If you fish are pregnant then they are a long way off, in 2-3 weeks they should both look much larger. It's also good to view them from above esp with the swordtail, as they sometimes to get wider rather than deeper.
