So got this dull but boisterous puppy at a LFS under the name of dragon goby lol. I think its a white cheek goby but i really have no idea, any opinions.

No idea. But it looks like a sleeper goby. Does it have a pair of pelvic fins? Or the regular goby sucker? If it has a pair of pelvic fins it's a sleeper goby. Most of these are around 20 cm long, territorial, predatory, but otherwise good aquarium fish.

The Yahoo "goby group" is a good place to get mystery gobies identified.

Cheers, Neale

hmm, must not be a sleeper then. It has pelvic fins and sometimes uses them to stick to the glass vertically. I guess i will get a better guess when he gets bigger.

Looks like you grabbed your self there a pretty neat goby have you got it in brackish conditions? Looks like a sleeper goby, I had one kept in freshwater living healthy but nobody could identify which type it was and when it grew it looked totally different and the nice colours fading away but still pretty looking. Completely safe with small shoaling fish however, I bought 2 purple spotted gobys and they swallowed up the whole shoal one by one lol. However, all 3 of my bumblebee goby's were completely fine and lived with them for nearly 1 whole month. odd right? lol
Goby's are the most interesting fish I've seen including the full saltwater goby's you see them interact with shrimp like the pistol shrimp they cover each others back and even find food for each other mainly shrimps job lol.

ya my purple spotted is a beast. He was smaller than my full grown knight goby at first, only 3 months later and he is at least twice the size. Ya i have a brackish tank at 1.005sg.
