Awwwwww what a cool pic!!

Chester zoo works very closely with Dublin zoo, I think they have one of Dublin zoos male Orang-Utans there on a breeding project. A group of Chimps arrived from Chester zoo last year to enlarge the group already here on the newly opened chimp Island.

More Pics!!!!

awww poor little guys.

I don't like Zoos on the whole, they have small horrid enclosures where the animals cannot freely move.

Orangutans should have at least a couple of acres in which to run and swing from tree branches etc.

I bet they haven't got that at Chester Zoo.

Ben :(

don't think they have acres of room, but they seem happy. the chimp was very very old... the orangutan was just chilling.

sadly zoo's are essential in helping animals that are on the verge of extinction...

This is true but I still think that Zoos that are unable to provide the funds for VERY large enclosures for any mammals should not be allowed to run at all.

Dudley Zoo for example has some horribly small enclosures (or did last time I went).

However places like WM Safari Park, Burford Zoo & to an extent London zoo have larger enclosures or let the animals roam very freely.

have you been to chester zoo?

the last time i was there i thought the animals had more than enough room to kep them happy. and they are involved in captive breeding programmes for endangered species.

Chester Zoo is fantastic and absolutelt huge - we went twice last year and still saw new stuff :)

i can't get my scanner to work yet, otherwise there would be some cool photo's...
