Bogwood Leaching

just thought i would let you no whats what. just of to the shops to get some active carbon or similar product. i have took all of the wood out of the tank and has been soaking all night and will be left to soak until sunday night - maybe monday. Hear is a picture of the tank now with out any of the wood. water still stained a lovely week tea shade (wheres the milk and sugar)

you need to actually show the picture, using photobucket or another similar photo hosting site :good:
 
The one use that I might have in one of my tanks for carbon is to remove that color that comes from bogwood leaching. Activated carbon can actually help remove that color.

I don't understand what happened with that pic. Normally mine just upload to the forum with out any probs
 
disturbing, My wood has been soaked for about 5 days now. toped up with red hot water as often as been possible. Active carbon has been in my filter now for about 3 days and the water has cleared up a absolute treat. have bin doing large water changes every day and thoroughly disturbing the substrate with the gravel vax to get all the crappy tanning bits of of it. I put to small bits of wood back in yesterday and the large main piece back in tonight. tomorrow morning will be the true test if its all worked. will ad pics tomorrow.
