He is so active and spends all day wising around the tank. He has a verosious apertite, tried to eat his way out of the bag on the way back from the aquatics (punctured the bag 2 times, thank god for double bagging)
What shall i feed the little nipper.
He seams uninterested by fish flakes, has the occasional nip at the other fishes algae wafers and loves his blood worm but i dont just want to feed him that.
He was already got rid of the pest snails in my tank brought in by new plants and has terrorized my 2 Golden Apple Snails (have been moved to a new tank)
Any one have any suggestions.

Would love to see some pics matey :)
My mate feeds his freeze dried krill, brine shrimp and snails.

Just wiped out the camera to take a couple of pics for you, and all of a sudden the most unshy fish i have ever known becomes the most shy. will have to try first thing after lights on when he is less active and shy. any snails in particular. ??

my green spot puffer eats mainly flake, regular mysis, brine shrimp and prawn

are you keeping him in brackish water

I;bve had mine couple of months now hes great and in quite high sg as well but I plan to lower that slowly

you could try cockles. i once tried a live mussel! they loved it but it made the tank murkyer than i had ever seen it! yeah so i say no to live mussels :p

yep he is in brackish water and seams to be loving it to be fair. just dont want him getting hungry and terning on other fish when i fully stock my tank. any good suggestions for tank m8s. open to all suggestions.

mine shares his housewith two bumblee gobies andtwo dragon gobies, theres been no problems apart from initial aggression from the puffer on day one but its about 2 months later now

I had in my tank 6 Zebra Danio whilst cycling my tank the day i added my puffer there was no real signs of aggression. Different story at light out.vI awoke to find one of them had been munched on but since then there have not been any more attacks. I am guessing because there is plenty of plants to brake up the tank.
I would love to get 2 angel fish but i am guessing that would be a very bad idea.

I'm surprised you still have your bbs Simon!

Alex, Do you plan to up the sg as he gets older?

As for food, shrimp in in its shell, frozen cockles (obviously defrosted :p) but with shell left on, see if your lfs will sell or give you their excess pest snails :good:

I shore do. I have read from different sorces that as they get older they can live in full marine. would love to have a reef tank one day but still not sure about that. what do you mean by lfs ??

LFs = Local Fish store/shop

Yes they do well in full marine as adults although you probably wouldnt want to keep him in a reef :p he would eat all the inverts etc. Pop on over to the marine section and have a look at adandrews set-up with his green spotted puffer, he has recently taken his tank to full marine :good:

Well I am of to my pet shop soon so will have to ask if they have got any going spare, or will have to pay for them( free is always better ) I would so love to do that. I have the exact same tank as him. But I recon I will stay brackish, for now any way just untill hes bigger ( only about an inch long ATM) not sure how old he is. When he is bigger and i am more experienced I will have to think about the move to full sw. ATM I am runing at about 1tbs per 3 gallons. Will def be upping it tho as he matures.

well I did wonder when I added him but I've had no problems or even any signs of targeting the BBS even if they swim right in front of him

as I say its been a couple of months now

Success
I have returned from my lfs with about 30 little pest nails. The guy just gave me a bag and said if you wana spend 10 mins in their planted section looking for them then go for it. Think I will set up a mini breading tank
Get loads of them for the puffers, got a pack of frozen cockels as well. Along with other bits and bobs for the filter.
