Hey.

EMERGENCY!

I bought four neon tetras yesterday. All seem to be doing well, swimming nicely with no dodgy marks, etc. Except for one tetra which has a MASSIVE belly. It is swimming well and doesn't seem to have any strange marks, but it really is HUGE!

I know that it is very difficult to breed neon tetras, so I assume that it is some sort of disease. But other than this belly issue, there are no other symptons of illness. I have put in a general disease treatment which treats many illnesses.

Could somebody please tell me what is wrong with my tetra. Pregnant, Obese or Ill?

I hope that the picture has loaded...

Thank you

a nice comparison ^

also if you look close you should be able to see some dark spots which are the fry's eyes

Neon tetras are egg scatterers they do not get pregnant! She may be holding eggs but they need to released and the fertilised to become babies!

agreed neons dont get pregnant so you will not be able to see eyes
i also think ( i may be wrong ) that the eggs are light sensative so in a community you have no chance sorry

Thank you. I am relieved now. I was having awful images of my tank being overrun by little tetras. Argggh!
