Hello, I have looked through the emergencies and diseases page and cannot find a similar problem, I know that I have caused this problem as I have had a baby and neglected my water changes. I am taking that all in hand now to lower my nitrates and get things back on track. Now down to the problem. It started with one of my fish getting a small clear lump on the lip and a small white worm? started to grow in it, it then emerged cleanly from the fish, about 1cm long, never to be seen again, then 2 of my fish had 2 lumps each with them same problem. Non of the fish have died and appear unharmed but obviously I need to get things sorted. I have not introduced any new fish or plants I just wish to find out if anyone knows what these worms are and if medication is needed. Thankyou for your time.

Did the worm have a forked tail.

Clear bubble lumps can be a sign of parasites..
In the area where the clear bubble lump was, did it look like the parasite might have burrowed through from the inside of the fish.

Any pitting on the head region or the lateral line area.
Also what type of fish are you keeping.

Did consider this but they have only appeared on the extremities, lips or tips of fins which makes me doubt an internal parasite and you can watch them grow until they come away, tried to get some pictures for you but all fish are clear at the moment. I keep tetras (cardinal, congo, rummy, black neon,emperor,x-ray,rosy,silvertip and diamond) with corydoras with a couple of endlers. Thanks for your time.

I would remove all ornaments and do a good gravel vac.
Keep an eye on fish for more worms.
And also red pin prick marks, or sores on fish.

This is all I could find for you.
fish has pimples on it's skin with something white sticking out.
A: This is a parasitic worm (Lernea), or Anchorworm. Common in Goldfish.

Searched lernea images and found this, it is identical.Just searched for treatments and they seem quite straight forward, treat Parazin first, then after a while Myxazin to treat any wounds left behind after getting my tank cleaned up of course. Thanks for the help!

Yes i've seen pics of anchorworm and I study the tank every night and haven't seen any in my tank at all (which hindered my diagnosis). Bought my meds today and going to do a water change now and administer them. I will let you know what happens.
