Your fry will be heterozygous for the short finned trait. Do you plan on breeding the offspring to get half long and half short finned?

Well done James :hyper: can't wait to see the pics! is the female one from me? where did you get the male? he sounds lush! :good:

I dont know what heterozygous means tbh. I dont know about breeding the fry yet, Ill just see how things turn out!

Hey yea the female is from you, the darker of the three, shes become a right flirty little madam lately. I got the male from aylesford aquatics. They often have HM males in there, £15 though but thats not much compared to some on ebay and aquabid and they are normally really nice!

Here is a pic of the male, excuse the quality, it is from my phone! Ill put the other pics up tomorrow as apparently I have to resize them  I cant get him to flare but when he does he is so nice!

Thanks, James

p.s my girlfriend laughed at LUSH because she always says it lol

Its not the best pic but e really is beautiful! Ill get some more up later. Little update, eggs have hatched but dont think there is that many. I think this is due to 2 apple snails munching on the nest after they spawned! little gits! lol

Ill just have to wait until they are free-swimming to see how many we got.

Great stuff :good: I haven't got many from my crowntail spawn either but I think it could have been due to the dad munching  so far I have counted 3! though they are in a large container with plenty of cover so there is probably more lurking, trouble is they are so small when they first hatch!

Ohhhh thats not great, sorry! I think I have about 20 but when I get in from college there may be more so fingers crossed. Ill let you know, and yes they are tiny!

It means that the fry will be long tailed, but they will carry plakat genes.

Oh ok, thanks. Ive never come across that word lol. I am going to start to look at genetics of bettas if I can be successful in raising the fry. Ill see what the fry turn out to be. Hopefully Ill get some nice butterflies with some nice colour patterns. Thanks
