Would this aquarium be sufficient for one male crowntail betta?
It is 5US Gallons, and is 8.75" L X 14.5" W X 9.75" H.
It is plastic with a lid, and ventalation.
And at petco.com, only 9.97!!
Will it work?
It is used as an aquarium, and ppl reviewed said it worked well.

yes, - you could easily buy a small filter and heater for that!

I've had bettas in these before, worked really well :) You could just cut a little circle out of the lid for filter/heater cables etc. Good size too.
Only tiny drawback is that the plastic scratches easily from rocks, scraping off algae etc.

Looks like a cute starter set-up and the price is excellent. Maybe find a good filter that you can use and plan on eventually moving that filter with the mature media over to a glass aquarium. The reason I suggest that is because the acrylic/platic will scratch VERY easily. I'm super careful with my Eclipse tank (which is acrylic) and it's still entirely scratched up! I have no idea how as it's been sitting in the same spot for about 8 months.

Yes that's do-able. The heater should also be no problem as they come with suckers to attach them which will keep the glass away from the plastic.

These are cheap and easy tanks, and the larger ones like this one here are a reasonable size.

Scratching from rocks shouldn't happen because you shouldn't have sharp or rough rocks in with a betta, as he may catch and tear his fins on them. Smooth pebbles are fine, and of course small grade gravel.

Fill it up with lots of silk plants, your heater and a sponge filter, and that will be a good tank for a betta.

My acrylic tank has smooth pebbles and still has scratched up. Seems like the scratches appear out of thin air.
