Don't know how many, thought I saw a white one, but thought nahhh, then saw a beautiful tiny cheeky yellow one which popped up to say hi I'm here. and went to hide again..lol

I know we supposed to feed twice a day, but what time of day seem best....I just fed at 2pm and they really went for it, especially the brine shrimp....hoping the fry get some!

Sorry couldnt get a pic. I did try, dont know if you can see him/her but, she/he is hiding behind the leaves

thats nice i cant see it tho. congrats! i think u should feed them 3 times a day at least. one when u get up, one at around 3 pm and one before bed.
 
Congrats on your platys & your fry :good:

Has FHM said make sure you keep an eye on the stats :), you have a fair amount of plants your fry may survive from hiding in these & from being eaten by the adults,
 
Congrats! I know the felling, when fish have fry, and it's great!

Harlequins is correct, keep an eye on those stats! lol

Hopefully the fry survive! If you have enough hiding places then they should!

I feed my newly hatch Kribs 3-5 times a day, so I would say at least 3 times a day for a while.

I have only seen one little yellow one, 4 times, then again it could be 4 babies and once each who knows! lol There is plenty of hiding places in the tank so I hope they are all ok, who knows how many she had, I havnt a clue. but as she is only young I cant see it being many, or am I totally wrong. I checked the stats at 5 and although nitrites were not on .25 they were not 0 either , ....different shade of blue, and ammonia was 0 so I performed a 50% water change and levels are now 0

Do you think a small shoal of pygmy corys would be a great addition to this tank when the planned 10 platys and 2 stone sucker loach are all installed? and if so, how many

Thanks biokid, I heard they prefer to be in shoals of 6+ which is which I thought I'd opt for pygmy corys if there will be enough room, but probably not with the fry as well

Anyways this evenings results are ammonia and nitrites 0 and nitrates 10 temp 24
got a few pregnancies becoming apparent
 
yea i just said 2 or 3 because i had one by itself and i guess it was very bored and died. so i got two for my 5 gal with my fry i cant get anymore not enough room. but i think 6 is very nice for ur tank.
 
Personally i think that 6 pygmys would be good if you dont get the loaches,pygmys like to hang out around the bottom has well has swim around,with loaches being bottom dwellers they may end up lunching on the pygmys.
I have 12 pygmys in my tank,they're awesome,they do hide away,then come up to swim with the tiny ember tetras.

With your planned 10 platys,you may need to consider a larger tank or setting up a fry tank,has fry overflow will happen,

i had 6 platys & 6 guppies,within 3 months i had over 400 fry :crazy:
 
I love my cories now that I have learned to keep them in large groups. A single cory in a tank is bored and boring to watch. It more or less hangs around near the bottom eating any food that falls to the bottom. A shoal of at least 5 is an active group of fish swimming around all over the tank and playing in the filter's water flows. The contrast in their actions is dramatic. For pygmies, I also tend to go with 10 or more because they are so small.
