Heh heh -it looks funny. Parts of his fins are still growing ( he's still pretty young I think), and they grow in a clear whitish color before they get the purply blue color they'll have eventually. So yes - it is supposed to look like that, his tail's not raggedy! 
And I love plakats too - they have so much personality. This guy had barely any finnage when I got him - the LFS thought they were females and there was a whole lotta fighting going on. But he's healed up pretty nicely.

I'll be excited when I get a bit more capable with the cam - I'll be able to get a clearer shot of him. I had to move him out of the 20 for the pick, and Oooo, was he ever pissed at me. He'll be getting bloodworms tonigh....

OoOoooO is that Mr. Super Delta that is probably related to my two? (I decided mine are probably brothers!) Yey for the Aurora Fish! Yours looks lovely, you got a beautiful colored one. I probably would have picked one similiar if I'd seen one. 
They're all beautiful, and I know you'll get better with the cam. I was awful when I first got mine!! Took a week or two before I actually could see scales clearly...

I just fell in love with his bright multicolors, but I could have happily gone home with another 5...or 10...
