My New Fish

I finally got my betta from the fish shop. I also got 4 Corydoras Sterbai which I put into the aquarium first. When I put the betta in with the corys he freaked out and went for one of the cory's; I think it was the first time he'd had company in a tank before. The cory just deflected off him and swam away too quickly for him. After a while the betta got used to the cory's and realised they aren't a threat. Now they swim together and they get along fine. I also got a small cave which they mostly ignore unless I put food inside it.

I know that red bettas are supposed to be nicer when they are pure red but I like the irridesence on this betta and I think it gives him character. When I put on the blue led lights in my tank he looks purple which is cool aswell.

Nice zen aquarium. Betta looks happy too!

Here you can see the Betta chillin with the catfish. I call the betta Bob as in Bob Marley and the Wailers(the cory's)

Thanks, they seem to be happy in their tank. I have a question: does anyone know if corydoras are happy in a tank which doesn't have a current? I think the current is a bit too strong at the minute and sometimes I turn the filter off so the betta can swim around the whole tank okay.

I was thinking about getting a sponge filter, how do you know which filter is the right size for your tank? I have a 60 litre/15 gallon tank. Are spobge filters quiet running aswell?

Tank and inhabitants look lovely .

I wouldn't turn the filter off for too long, the good bacteria on the media will start to die off. Turning the filter down if you can, or going for a sponge filter like you said sounds like a good idea.

Yeah, please NEVER turn off the filter for more time than it takes to do tank maintenance or moving etc - the bacteria will die and you'll end up with an uncycled tank again

The more I look at your tank, the more I totally love it BTW

My cories tend to love a current, but I think you should be ok
