Just got back from the lfs where I bought a new tank I intend to house a Betta in. I'm really excited, I love them and guppies, so now i have one community tank and one betta tank, its just been delivered.oh well another cycle starting asap hehe lol.
I found a lfs that has a huge stock of bettas some 20+ to choose from. at the moment I've got my eye on a CT if thats the right term.its a tricolour, with red, purple and turquoise colouring. tha tank is an AQUA one AR620..37cm depth, 61cm width, 43cm height, built in filter and lights. so off i go to see the calculator to find out what litre it its,........ back in a tick

Aint we all dreaming of bettas, my breeding pair should be arriving tommorrow, and im already thinking what betta types to buy next.

Are you in the UK? the LFS here are rubbish when it comes to bettas, all they have is your standard Vt's and the odd CT if your lucky.

Ohhh.. id love to see pics of the tanks once there set up!

:)

He sounds gorgeous :) You could split that tank and have 2 :hey:

ENthusiasm.... I love it...,

I am planning on going to Maienhead aquatics in Pontlliw over the next few days. The one I have my eye on is a CT but I love them all the same. They have bi-colour blue/black. monocolour reds, and I cant remember what other colour variations. so I shall try my best to take some photos. By the way, the one is your avatar is stunning, And other than the one I got my eye on, the bi-colour lavender/cream are the ones I love too.
The tank I bought is huge for a betta so he will be spoiled rotten!! anyway, I wish I could find a way of putting another in my community tank when it is stocked but cant find a nice stocking list for a Betta to live with. thanks for the encouragement. I have to purchase a 4 plug extension and a glass mount thermometer and we are away......and so it will begin...tomorrow! lol

EDIT...And yes. I am in the UK....swansea South wales x and, what substrate would you advise. I have a 10kg bag of natural mid size gravel, but should I place a layer of earth ( please specify which type I buy) first with the gravel on top as I plan on places live plants and grasses in the tank, as I understand thats what bettas prefer....please advise if I am wrong, and specify which plants and substrates please, as I am a full newbie, ( only been cycling my first ever tank for 3 weeks and have bought new tank for Betta)

Sorry to double post but just wanted to put photo of new tank up now I've filled it with water as well as the gravel

The Maidenhead in Morganstown near Radyr had some lovely combtails in. One was a lovely silver metallic type one. I'm hoping to have the world's fastest cycle to get him before he sells lol

Finalfantay85....like I know how you feel. Its Maidenhead aquatics in Swansea ( pontarddulais garden centre) where I've spottyed my beauty....but I'm not 100% sure of which type he is...I know he's a tri-colour thats all. A bit like this one in colour

If he's anything like him then snap him up. Looking at that pic there it looks to be the same type of tail but i could have sworn they were comb tails in Radyr cos they looked too long and droopy for a comb but i could be wrong i am no expert

well as I thought, I went back to the lfs today, and the beautiful tri-colour had been sold. Shame! But I am looking into other options. I have contacted a breader in Carmarthen who sells some wonderfull coloured bettas. (www.specialbettas.webs.com.... the ladies name is Victoria Protheroe)
I am waiting for her to get back to me as she seams to have bi-colour halfmoonxroundtail butterfly male and female red/blue halfmoon female fry in growing process. So they are available in about april. so we shall see

anyway, I have prettied up my betta tank. will probably add more deco later on

Very nice, i'd get some tall broad leaf plants tho and you could always try making a coconut cave....easy i swear lol. Didn't take me hours last night at all! Will have to check out that site see if there's any that catch my eye

Edit - Can you send me the website address cos the one you posted doesn't work for me. Ta

Thankyou, sorry for my typing error. xx
Started cycling the tank this afternoon. so and we're off
