these fish are quite peaceful and will normally leave there young alone.

They are looking good Fish48.
I find the larger goodeid fry are often not hunted down like the smaller fry of poeciliids. It is one of the reasons I really like these fish. I have yet to try any of the Allotoca.

Most goodeids are fine kept with there fry but some times can be unpredictable for example Zoogoneticus tequila are usually ok with there fry but some times can attack and kill them for no apparent reason .,
Characodon lateralis los berros, will very often attack and kill there fry,
but Characodon lataralis sp. Guadalupe. and Characodon lateralis los pinos, leave there fry alone

It sounds like I got lucky then, my Characodons are the Guadalupe Aguilera collection point. Mine are still juveniles that I picked up at a club auction so I have yet to see them breed. At their present size I am still unable to sex them so I don't even know if I have a pair among the 6 of them.

You should get a pair from among the 6 of them with no prob

I don’t know if it’s true I have heard that Guadalupe Aguilera have not been seen in it’s own habitat for the last 5 years.

Zoos for me have always been vicious fry feeders. Actually, aside from those that throw out REALLY large fry, I've noticed predation in all my species, including those that are reputedly not so inclined, such as ataeniobus and girardinichthys.

what's wrong with my fish?

I am guessing that what you call zoos are Zoogoneticus tequila. I have never kept those, I have yet to even find any around the clubs here. I have only been keeping some of the easier to find goodeids like Xenoophorus captivus, Xenotaenia resolanae, Xenotoca eiseni and similarly easy ones. For them an unheated planted tank and keep them well fed is all it takes to get tons of new fry. Lately the X resolanae tank has undergone a plant explosion that will force me to remove plants just so the resolanae have swimming room. I recently picked up some Skiffia lermae and the juvenile Characodons so I only have keeping experience with them so far, I expect no breeding for juveniles.

I now also have a ton of Xoogeneticus DWFish. I got mine at last year's ALA convention and have nothing but success with them. As it stands now, I have a surplus of them and will probably offer a few this year at either the TCTFS auction or at the ALA auction. The TCTFS auction comes up first but the ALA auction holds a sweet spot in my heart. Unless I have plenty of them, the ALA auction will receive the first priority for my excess fish.
