I like the step up a lot! Just make sure that the tank is stable before you put the fish in.

Thanks, yea no worries he wont be going in for at least another week possibly 2. Just so i know everything is all fine.

what kind of sand is that? i like the way it looks

maybe a coconut cave or some place for your betta to hide, mine loves his cave

The sand is "Pettex, Roman Gravel, Black Sand"

Hes got a little cave, behind the really bushy plant at the front (not sure of name), so he can hide away properly if he wants.

Just a note, first things to die if there is an ammonia spike wont be the fish. It'll be the shrimp.

Shrimp should always be the final additions to a tank IME, not the first. So long as there is no spike then you should be fine, but if you do find they 'mysteriously' dissappear/die then this could be why.

Very nice, love how you've done the tank. :)

With regards to whether fish or shrimp could go in, it's really 6 of one hald a dozen of the other, shrimp first, if there's a spike they're more likely to die, betta first, he's more likely to kill the shrimp, either way it might not end well for the shrimp! XD

Tank is cycled. But im on holiday as of Monday and wanted to be here for my betta while hes settling in.

My mum is looking after all my tanks while im away.

What I was implying is, is that the bettas waste will be (at a guess) more than triple what the shrimps is...so chances are you'll get a considerable ammonia spike. It's just something to be aware of, cause if you check by testing the water then you'll be able to deal with the spike and hopefully save the shrimp. :)

Just for future knowledge though, the best possible way to get the tank ready would be via a fishless cycle, if cycled with up to 4ppm of ammonia then you would be able to add both betta and shrimp in one go without any spike at all.

Oh and I do really like the set up. :good:

Nice set-up i have a 8ft tank with alot of fish in there i did have bettas in there before i put my other fish in there my bettas died cuz my brother turned the heater up really high while i was on holiday when my nan come over to check them he was messing about with it so i got all new fish now and no bettas. i have 10 tiger barbs, 5 Chinese Algae Eater, 3 Dwarf Gourami, 5 angel fish, 6 red tail shark fish and thats about it any way iv only had it up for about a 2 monthes now so iv only added the angel fish and the red tail shark fish 2 weeks ago il be getting alot more because it is a massive tank. and i like the set-up and tank.

UPDATE:just added 4 loaches, 4 guppies, 2 Rosie barbs (i think thats the name) and 1 more angel fish and i know its alot but i went to get some and then my dad they dident know that all them fish where going to go to my tank and i dident even know my dad went lol.
