Hi all

I really need to net a few fish and have spent far to long trying now, any tips to getting them, I need to remove 2 chromis and a chalk goby from my tank as soon as I can and am not even getting close, I have tried feeding them and then catching them but they are just to fast and then hide behind the rock, i really do not want to start removing the rockwork, any ideas?

Thanks
VM

Curiosity, not sure of youve noticed, but this is a marine tank, cannot remove the corals, they need to stay in the water.

Have you tried the fish traps available VM, about £25 in shops, heard good success with them.

Curiosity I do not really want to drop the water level because they are in here but thanks anyway :good:

Hi TigerIssey, I like the idea of the traps but if I get one of those I will not have the money for the new fish that is going in.
I have now resorted to just diving the net in and abit like a seagull would feed, it's useless

Lol, no it was a silly suggestion. I hadn't noticed this was in the marine section.

I know this may be equally silly, but is it too deep for you to sorta use a hand to guide them into the net, instead of a second net.
I'm guessing they're evading you by going into/under the rockwork?
If so your hand is going to be more dexterous than a net...don't know if you have any stinging corals and such though...

If that's not doable then I'm out of ideas as this totally isn't something I would know how to do.
Good luck. :)

When I swapped over my tank I used a net and a pint glass, fish swam away from net straight into glass, Its worth a go :good:

Keep em hungry and then pop food into the bottom of the net..keep a steady cool hand and then swipe...would say "free lion food" but know i'm going to get roasted for that....

Ps..only joking peeps before I do get roasted,lol....

Bud, I would love to swipe, only one problem....

am I being blond (again, no smilie for that on here) but I don't understand the comment chuckie ????

Please explain...... even if just to me

if you turn the lights off they will think it's bed time and go to sleep. then you can go in net them because they don't even realize what the heck is going on anymore. I've seen my clown fish do that. at night i go see them I'm able to stick my hand in the water and follow them and they don't even realize anything.
