not to be a negative nelly, and im actually surprised that no one has mentioned it (but i have to-everytime i come to this thread and see it i cringe)...but please please PLEASE change the water in those vases your fishies are in. the fish look fine now, but in those conditions, id suspect finrot or ammonia burns from water like that.
it is possible, folks, to keep bettas in smaller homes, two of my boys are in 3 gal tanks, but it is a lot of work to maintain good water.
i hope they read this

Just to answer you loraxchick the ideal home is 5g, stable much easier, 3g is a minimum but do need to ensure keep water changing. Anything lower is a lot of hard work for yourself with water changes, I dont care what others say if their bettas are fine, are they sure that their bettas arent burnt by the ammonia build up? This is an discussion for elsewhere, it is possible but you have to bare the consequences and upkeep especially 6 months down the line of regular changes. For some odd reason I thought those were temp shots! LOL.

i doubt those shots are temp. being so dirty. i was not looking into a debate for suitable size housing etc., as that has been beaten to death and is a non-resolving issue. i was simply saying if you keep small homes keep clean water! simple as that.
