I have posted on Oddball forum but thought would post here as well, may be getting two GSPs at the weekend! This is the tank so far:

Appaulling pic sorry, little more has been added since this pic and filter is going to be cloned. Have all running now to help get the temp up.
I know I need lots more planting as bare right now. I have a couple of anubias to add to the bogwood on the left. My problem is the height of the tank, nothing seems tall enough. I was thinking of buyng some lengths of mopani/bogwood and attaching more anubias and javas to padd out space more. Alternatively I think I know somewhere that have giant javas but unsure if these still attach to bogwood or not?
Any tips appreciated. They will be started off freshwater as per store and then will raise tank .002 over period of time with marine salt and hydrometer! Think have my head around this but help at the time may be needed.
The puffs in questions themselves looked all extremely healthy today. One out of 20 was skinny and a couple fins nipped all others looked very good so in this respect do I look for rounded belly and personalities? Also they all had white bellies, no shades of grey/black at all.
The store have been treating them for white spot and they have recovered but want this week to just keep eye on them hopefully to be sold on Saturday, will try not to pester them too much ;)

Nice tank hun :D

I know you want your tank to look just so, but I wouldn't worry about plants too much as eventually you'll be raising the salinity so much that the plants won't survive.
You could get some big java ferns and 'sew' them to your wood with black cotton or invisible thread for now (remember to remove the invisible thread - if you can find it  - after the ferns have attached themselves.
I think the wood will start to rot as the salinity goes up too, but see how it goes.

You could look for some twiggy bogwood to break up the height issue maybe? :D

OHHH Thanks Jen! I havent alot of cash (the usual thing with us keepers  ) but going on the prowl tomorrow and that has given some good ideas, thank you. Reckon keep as is and have things from above? I am limited as this tank has glaa under the lid you can see with small sliding doors, great if keeping escape artist!

You could do like I did with my F8 tank and have silk plants or plastic ones hanging down from the surface :D

OHHH!!! Yes lots of ideas so reckon the bottom part better, just sort the top half out bit more?

Hi hun....nice tank so far....just needs erm.....FISH :hyper:
I've gone with silk plants and ornamental bogwood in with the gang of three. I'm not a great lover of silk plants, but some of them look really nice.....some not so good!!! My fave one is a 12'' one that looks pretty realistic [sorry batteries went dead on camera] and I've just bought 3 off of a member on here....I might have some for sale soon, but they will probably be short ones.
Off to work now, but I promise to get some pics up when I get home!

THESE sort of plants (available at P@H!) are what I use. Easy to clean and look good with suckers on them to stick to the glass :D

thanks guys! pics divegirl, sobbing on knees, pics!!!!

Thanks Jennybug, just looked at your tank thread and they do look really really good, hmmmm go to live plant shop or pets at home...live plant shop pets at home...opposite directions!!! gah!

Really can't decide what to put in. Those plants may solve the problem though as it is above and wouldnt obstruct on the bottom.... There are some reptile shops on way to live plant store...so muzzy headed at mo! sorry guys.

does early morning prayer to the LFS "please let me have puffs sat pretty please" ;)

p.s. really like the suckers idea. Have only anubias live in at the mo, so maybe best idea as eventually the live plants will end up out of that tank anyways..

Coat on! Pets at Home have a "ivy thing that is large with suckers" off to investigate :) lol

Ended up Pets at Home it was a massive trek but ended up getting the recommended plant, will get pic soon thanks Jen!!! But to add insult to injury on way back a new large Pets at Home has apparently opened 3 days ago! AHHHHHH!! LOL This will be much more convienent and may pop out to check it out in a mo and time on the bus.

Ah cool. The silk plants are great and scrub up well (just remember not to use boiling water as the silk leaves actually part company with their plastic 'veins' if you try hard enough) :good:

Ah good to know Jennybugs, have attached to one of the sliding doors, will get a pic two ticks. Thanks again for the help! Will get more for floor of tank but now it is not as bare. The second Pets at Home went to was just as good for products, little less on fish. They guy I shadowed for half an hour (stalker!) but he seemed to know his stuff including cycling. Spoke to him abit about bettas, we didnt agree on bettas in the community thing but he was a good chap. Almost came away with a fish (from both places) but remained strong! Really pleased as the second one had brackets for filters for sale at couple of quid and this solves my filter problem!

back in mo with pics, please let me know what you think. Thanks so much Jennybugs again!

Here is the added plant looks better, still not there though?

It is a beast and was £10.19 though they do have a special on their silks 3for2 at the moment. I was tempted but dont have the money till next weekend. Really recommended (original recommendation from Jen!). Comes with one main sucker and two smaller suckers that kept falling off but then have attached to the glass on the top! Think I will get a second one on payday to pad more and two lower plants for bottom if deal still on. Do you reckon ok for baby puffs for mo?

Just rang store looking good for Saturday but does not want to commit and am to ring Saturday morning, fingers crossed, cant wait for 9:01am Saturday! LOL (I am so the crazy puff lady, my reputation is spreading to certain stores how bad is that!)

If your Gsp's are anywhere near as tough as my F8's they'll be fine...... The little ***** were trying to attack the hose when I did their water change....I don't think plastic plants will hurt them
