Today I was down at our local petstore, which is usually pretty darn crappy to put it bluntly. -_- Anyways, noticed on one of the tanks "Pygmy Corydoras" was written.. in with some guppies. Didn't see one cory in there. Then I saw a little teeny guy swimming with the guppies (as I was of course searching the gravel)! Ah ha!!! I went bananas, I am so excited. I've always wanted some, and would have got a few more but he was the only one. I couldn't just leave him there by hisselfy!! :p So now he's in my 10 with the other big cories. He certainly is TINY and SO active.. very hard to photograph, so excuse quality.

Here he is again. He certainly went right to work looking for chow! Also, I have already noticed that he swims more in open water than the other types of cories I have.. hmm... :)

And here is the new platy I bought. Since a few months ago one of my "females" went male... I wanted another gal. I haven't been looking really, but she caught my eye immediately. I didn't notice till I got her home that she is pretty thin... , but hopefully good food will fix that and it's nothing more serious. Quite a few of their fish were thin, so I'm thinkin it's not a parasite. They certainly look fine otherwise. Wish us luck, I already love the big lady. She is yellow with lots of fine black spots and a greenish and blue tint. Purrrty.

Edit: Forgot to ask - does anyone know the actual technical name for her color? (like red wag, etc) I've never seen another like her, and couldn't find any pics like her after doing research either. Thanks. :)

Very nice!!

I have NEVER seen or even heard of pygmy corys!! :hyper: How cute! Are they a dwarf species or is yours just a baby??

I usually don't like platy's but that one is beautiful!!

Awww thanks silver. The cories are actually a species, though I think mine is a baby too - I think they grow to about 3/4 of an inch. Isn't that unbelievable? Just lil guys! I don't think he's even that big though yet...

What a cute pygmy cory. One of mine is the same size as yours, but they other is an inch long. Gorgeous platy as well.

The platy looks like a tuxedo platy. She's a beauty! :)
Thanks Heather! That was my best guess, she's just an interesting color combo for a tuxedo I suppose. :p :D

Pygmies like to school when you find more definately get more.....I love my pygmies ( I have a different species) But they are awesome. Great find, need more pygmy lovers out there.

Cute one =)

Pygmy Cories (Corydoras pygmaeus) are just adorable. Nice little thingies that act more like tetras than cories.

Hi Julie, I just got 8 of the pygmys about two weeks ago, they had been spending more time in the open water then I expected but are just now starting to school and spend more time on the bottom and plants. Very cute guys!
