How it works
Each member will post a pic of the swordtail that they want to enter into the competition. The first 15 entries will take part.
There will then be a poll after the first 15 entries, and the swordtail which gets the most votes is the winner! Simple!

RULES
1.) MAXIMUM of 1 entry per member!
2.) You must own the swordtail! No taking ones off of google images!
3.) The swordtail can be male or female, but I reccomend entering males.
4.) Picture should be of a resonable quality.
5.) Enjoy!

Don\'t forget I am entering as well!

WINNERS PRIZE!!!
1st place: A free signature with your swordtail in it! Saying 1st place with a gold trophy on it or something.TTF swordtail show winner etc. Or whatever you want on it.

If you want to enter just post your pics below! Please add the entry number eg Entry No.1 and then the pic of the swordtail.

Yes... that pineaple lyretail is a beaut !!!

You are so lucky to have her !

I have to agree. It is the most stunning fish I have seen in my life! It puts mine to shame. Oh well this compotition is over allready! Fish 48 has won, nothing is going to match that!

Here is one of my boys I bred , have 7 sub adults in my tank and so far 2 have flourished into male.

Mine's probably not very pretty, (but in my eyes she is) entry no. 4

Sorry, I don't know how to make it appear big on screen...

Just had babies for the second time.

Nope, it's a sword. I think it's a yellow-finned black velvet sword.... It was in the mixed tank, but I DO have a male platy that looks kind of like her.... (Got him after her.)

above looks more like a plattie then a sword tail

Might be just me though

If u look at the large pic by clicking it you can see it's more sword tail as the body is more elongated.

However all most all cultaveated sword/platies are aready a cross who's to say.
their just selected for breed back to what they want. ie if u want a sword from a platy x sword you then cross that F1 cross with a true sword to get 75% sword and a sword body shape.

It can be a bit hard to tell a platy from a sword, As HelterSkelter said CT. The real way to know is to observe the adult males and see if they have a sword tail. That young fish does look a bit like a platy but as HS said, the body shape is more like a sword than a platy, even without seeing an adult male. I really hope this competition doesn't degenerate to the point of judging whom has bought the most unique looking X. helleri. A beautiful wild X helleri is far superior, in my mind, to a highly developed example of a "fancy" swordtail. The long fins and unusual colors are more a matter of careful selection of parents than an indication of skill at raising good quality swordtails. It is my personal opinion here but there you go.

Yeah, no offense to anyone on here, but I don't really like the long-finned varieties. I prefer my cute little short-finned swords.

Its not offensive but the longer finned varieties are rarer than short finned ones. They also bring a higher price tag. So serous keepers would have mabye a different opinion to you.

Well i thought i would be different and post my baby lyretail sword instead ;)
