Firstly apologies for the poor pic quality - Can you explain why my pregnant Platy has a blood like substance near her anal fin? I presume that she is haemorraging? Maybe completely wrong.

I do not know what to do - at present she is still in the main tank in a net though I do have the option of isolating her in a separate tank (already cycled).

Is there anything I can do to help her or is she dying and is there nothing I can do to prevent this?

Thank you.

Wow she big.
Is she aborting.
How is she now.

It could be a prolapse like laura has said.
Most fish don't make it when they have a prolapse.
Sometimes they can extract back in. But there risk of a bacterial infection.
Prolapes can be caused by a number of things from bacterial, pressure, internal parasites.
Do any fish look skinny or bloated.
What does it look like when your fish go to the toilet.

Still aborting though looks more with a small pink attachment also - any hope for her?

Regarding the prolapse, it is almost back in now - was not expecting that as it was progressively worse yesterday evening. Her poo was a very dark brown and very thick (yesterday evening when at worst) - not noticed since then. All the other fish look really healthy.

You mentioned that there might be a risk of bacterial infection - should I do anything other then keep her segregated in a large net in the main tank or switch her to a hospital tank? Looks like she is getting back to fitness now, though it is still early days and she has not eaten in some time.

Has she stopped aborting now.
if so use a bacterial med.
Try some food soaked in garlic.

Hi, yes she has stopped aborting - looks normal now and lost her huge size somewhat. Am really pleased that she looks out of danger, thought her number was up yesterday.

Will try the garlic method - should I leave her be in the net in the main tank for the time being?

Thank you for your help.

She will get stressed in the net so let her go now into the main tank.
Good Luck.
