Hi, at the moment I am in education, I am taking A2 product design and we have to find a problem and make a solution.

I have a few aquariums of my own and I thought of the idea when i was cleaning out my aquarium.

I thought of having and under gravel cleaner that moves the stones that sit ontop slowly, which grind up all the waste on and in the stones. I thought that this would be good because it saves time in cleaning it all by hand.

Then once all the dirt it grinded up by the grating moving back and forth, it then falls through into a V shape underneath and collects together and then a filter sucks all the waste out and filters it out of the water.

The grating will be fine enough not to let small stones fall through but will allow the grinded up dirt through.

As most aquariums are a standard depth, it will be a universal depth size. but the width will be adjustable, so you can add or take away sections for different sized aquariums.

It will not replace the aquarium filter, it will only replace the hard work of manually using a syphon to clean the gravel.

I am looking for anyone's thoughts on this idea and would like ideas, opinions and suggestions on it. Any questions i will be happy to answer

To help with you trying to visulise it I have added a picture.
