hey everyone,

we're new on here and looking for a little bit of advice please...

we have a 70l, 3 ft tank with 2 male guppies and 2 female guppies, both of who are pregnant! there are 2 male dwarf powder blue gouramis and a young red tailed black shark in there. the tank has been running for almost 3 wks and we bought all fish last wknd along with 3 live plants. as advised by the guy who we got the fish from we are changing a couple of inches of water every other day and only got a small amount of fish to begin with.

in the last couple of days the larger of the 2 female guppies has been chasing and attacking the gouramis, cornering them and nipping them. the gouramis dont retaliate and she doesnt seem to bother any of the other fish. whats she up to? she does not seem to be ill, very lively and swimming well.

we put her in a breeding tank yesterday and let her out today..... she continued her carry on! so she is back in the breeding tank.

can anyone shed any light on her behaviour and advise us what to do?

thanks everyone. :good:

lou and harry

2 males to 2 females isn't really OK. theratio is 1 male per 3 females, so you need 4 more if you wish to keep both males. :) Not sure if you have room though. Pics of her would be helpful. Just join a site like imageshack or photobucket and upload your image there, then paste the code here. (If using imageshack, resizing the image for forums makes the load go much faster.)

Hi Platygirl11, Thanks for you comments. I have attached a pic of the pest. cheers

She doesn't seem too far along from that picture. I'm out of ideas. :dunno:

thanks for your help platygirl.

does anyone else have any ideas as to why shes being like this? everyone i speak to says its unlike a guppy, usually the gouramis who behave in this way!

got up this morning to find she has jumped out of the breeding tank, i haven't put her back in there as yet and she is still attacking the gouramis.

thanks folks

try separating her from the others for aout a week in a separate tank or jar then put her back in and and if that doesnt work then ( pardon my language) your screwed.
