This is my 10G kuhli and puffer setup. I've recently (today) added some crazy pipes so the fish can swim "outside" the tank

We'll see how it works!

lol, thats cool--how did you get the water to stay in the pipe like that? wouldnt it normailly just flow into the tank

Conrad, the water stays in the pipe because there is no way for air to get in it. since the water level is equal at both ends of the pipe there is no pressure variation. You can do this between tanks, but make sure the water levels are at the same height, or you'll end up with a siphon!

lol ohhhh i get it!!! i dont know if i would do it between tanks bc one might get lower than the other and i def. wouldnt want a dry tank!!!

Actually if you have two level tanks it's not a problem at all connecting the two. It will actually increase the size of your ecosystem (2x10=20). Also, if one tank gets low on water it will suck water from the other tank only to the level where they are even. Great!! The only problem is if you have enough water in the pipe to overflow one of the tanks. Then you have to worry about overflow... in which case you need some sort of spillway. Good times
