Well here is my unusual little dude initially I asked Netty if it was some kind of illness or problem now he's bigger I can see it is a marking! and having done lots of research and phoned my importer I was told he is a Tancho Betta. Apparently it is a new strain being developed by the breeders and when I imported my boy who is this little guys dad my supplier concluded he has passed on the gene!

Not sure what you guys think but having Japanese koi he's something of a novelty, I may still sell him as I cant keep them all! but thought you might want a look I certainly have never seen anything like it!

Hi Tilly

Nice isn't he :good: I'm gonna be really ignorant now lol, What makes him a "Tancho"?

In koi, tanchos are white-bodied with a red dot on the head. I assume this is what the OP is referring to.

Yep he's right! but tancho refers to the mark on the head the circle which technically shouldnt touch the eyes, you can get tancho sanke tancho showa etc but all are a type of fish with a mark to the head, when the circle is perfect its usually called Midan Tancho

Glad you like him Bronze! ever seen anything like it?

Tilly
