Hi everyone
I know it must be boring to keep seeing th esame questions, but for me this is very exciting!
Im fairly sure my balloon molly is pregnant, see what you think in the pic.

I have looked at lots of pics of other peoples & heard that you tend to see the white dot of birthing canel opening. I think Ican see the white dot on her now, but Im not sure how far along that means she is. Will she have them very soon or is the drop still days away?

I have a 200L tank with other mollies, guppies, a gourami & black bodied red tailed shark so I suspect this is not a great environment for fry!
I have a tiny quarantine tank, its only 7L but its normally fine for keeping fish under observation & treating for a few days if they are new or ill. Would this OK as a birthing tank? If so will she be OK to be moved now? I have spare bits of filter foam in my filter to use to set it up but Im worried that the catching / movement might not be good for her.

Any thoughts gratefully received, especially to set me right if shes not preggers at all!
Very excited at potential to have fry, theyd be my 1st ever!!

Thanks

Hi there Fabsal. I have a hard time being able to tell whether a balloon molly is carrying fry or not. As you have said, the large tank has too many predators for any significant fry survival. the 7 litre tank seems a better choice or the fry to be born. You might try looking at the fish from directly above her. When a livebearer, including a molly, is about to deliver, she will be quite wide and rounded viewed from above when she is near to the next fry drop.

I'd say she is pregnant, but she seems to have some time to go. Listen to 5teady, he knows what to do. :D
