My platy had her last fry 3 month ago. There is no male in the tank, she came pregnant from the store. She is still fat, has the white spot under her anal fin and the darker color on the bottom of her belly. All the signs of beeing pregnant, but no fry since 3 month. What's wrong?
Here is a picture of her:

What temperature is she kept at?

She look's pregnant, but what it could be is that she has no stored sperm, she's produced eggs ready for fertilisation, swelling her body, but unable to fertilise them.

hello there
My opinion, put a male in that tank, you did not tell how old she is;maybe she is too old thats why they sold her,but you need a male, the tank looks all right

The temperature is about 78 F.
What happens if I don't put a male in the tank? My tank is only 10 gallons and has 3 female platies, 3 neon tetras and 2 small plecs. I think I should not put more fish in because of the size of the tank.....

No dont get a male they will be fine, they will absorbe the eggs at some point. But would be intrestinf to see if u ever do get fry at a later date though ;)

Thanks for all the info. My experience is anyway: as soon you get a new platy female from the store, it comes pregnant. So I'm not worried about the fry since we had plenty in the past few month since we have the tank. I just don't want to harm my fish. But as long they are fine without a male I won't get one.

Try looking at the pinned topic at the top by 5teady, it will tell you all you need about finding out if your guppy, molly or platy is pregnant.

They are not too much like people BJM. They do not really need company of the opposite sex to be happy. It's not that they don't welcome the company but they are OK without it.
