Hi, i have had bettas for the past year and currently own 2 Crowntail males, 2 Vieltail females and a Vieltails Female.

Anyways my little cousin just bought a new betta but the container says that it his a "scissortail Moth Betta" i've never heard of this befre and was wondering if they really exist or what?

thanks,

I've never heard of it...can you post a pic of the little guy?

Sorry, he's not mine so I don't have any photos my cousin just phoned and asked me to look it up.
My cousin says that he has the tail of a Vailtail but his top fin has small spikes on it.

thats just a standard VT, sounds like you cousin is bragging about something he dont know about.

idk, he's only 8 y/o so i don't think he would brag and why would the container have "Scissortailed Moth betta" written on it?

Sounds like the pet shop was trying to get creative with the names...my guess would be that scissortail = double tail and moth = butterfly. lol

Well, whatever he is, he sounds very pretty. The little cousin must be very proud!

Here is a picture my cousin drew of him....myabe it will help? I outlined the shape of the fins on paint because the pic is a bit blury.

The illustration would seem to indicate that it is indeed a butterfly...not sure how the scissortail plays in.

Where are you located? Perhaps this is just a 'lost in translation' thing...
