hi i bought two gorgeous ballon mollies on thursday female fully white and a male marble, at first the female sisnt eant to know him but today shes been letting him poke his you know what in all day, and they have been swimming everywhere together. i have made a note of them mating, but i need some advise. these are my first ballon mollies (have called my female lilly). because they are already big in the belly area does it make it harder to tell if she becomes pregnant??? if anyone has any pics of one pregnant then maybe if she becomes pregnant i will be able to tell.

thanks

If they were in a mixed tank at the store then she is most likely already pregnant. The plumpness of balloon Mollies does make it somewhat more difficult to tell if they are pregnant. With mine I go more by how she looks from above. If she looks like she swallowed a marble, then it won't be long. lol
I'll see if I can get a pic of mine a little later.

Here's a Youtube video from another forum member showing his Mollies just prior to birthing. Bear in mind that these are the hugest balloons that I've ever seen. lol

that would be great, she is a big gal, if she is already pregnant would the male be acting the way he is??

Yeah, they don't really care whether the female is already pregnant or not. lol

Here is a pic of my balloon Molly. I'd say she still has a week or more to go.

It's possible...hard to tell with balloons until they get really pregnant.

To me that molly actually looks like a crossbred, 1/2 balloon and 1/2 standard shape, so it will probably be a lot easier to tell. She does look pregnant, but not very far along.

I think she is just very young...she may take on more of the balloon shape as she ages.

wow they are all so pretty. I have some young ones too and my male seems to stick his thing in every time LOL he chases alot hahaha.

anyhow, mines are starting to get the belly it took awhile but it's coming :D
congrats to your new fish they are pretty.
