Our first ever fry. We didn't even think any of the Guppies were ready to pop.

The wife says she feels like an expectant father

Congratulations! Guppies are prolific breeders so there will be more to come. :)

From the pic, that one doesn't look particularly 'fresh'...I bet there are more hiding out in your tank. Congrats!

The mother is still very large and is acting quite tetchy. Her rear end almost squares out for a while and then shrinks back like she's resisting the birth.

How old do you think the fry could be? I would guess it is only about 6mm long at most.

If she's acting as you describe, I'd say the fry is fairly new...it's always hard to tell with pictures.

Seems that was not the first.

I took the moody minnows to the LFS on the wife's instructions (my day off work). When I got back, I saw 5 Guppy fry about 10mm long swimming freely around the Camboba in the Male Guppy tank.

Managed to get a few shots plus a couple of short videos. Upload in progress :D

Congrats! From the video, your fry appear to be approximately 1-2 weeks old. When they are first born, they look like they are all eyes with a tiny tail.

Here is a pic of my week old Guppy fry:

Congrats on the new fry. I always love it when my fish have a drop. As NoSoupForYou said, they are probably between a week and 10 days old by the way they are swimming and how well they have developed into little fish instead of looking like an eye with a tail.
