I agree a betta with pgymy cories, Also i not sure but maybe otttos could go in later instead of cories as they like mature tanks.

i have had it set up for tropicals before but when i upgrade tanks i decided to try coldwater for a while now it has 2 goldfish a couple white cloud minnows and an alga eater.

I hope you havent got 2 goldfish and lots of minnows in that tank as its far too small being only about 7 gallons
goldfish need at least 10 gallons per fish and i wouldn't put the white cloud minnows in anything small than 24" as they are so active and need a lot of surface swimming room and you should also have at least 6 of them as they are schooling fish and do not do well in small numbers

i have 2 small gold fish..gettin move into another tank soon.. i only have about 3 minnow due to disease ..

i so tempted to get a betta slendens..
but i like the idea of having a coldwater tank..theyre really easy to maintain

even though the goldfish are small you still need to have a 20 galloon ready for them to move in to rea;;y sppm so that the fish dont suffer from problems of stunted growth and depending what sort they are ie comets and shubunkins need at least 20 gallons where fancies need the 10 gallons
Coldwater is not easier than tropicals it is a darn site harder cos the fish are messier i've kept coldwater for over 15 years before i moved to tropicals and i thought they were easier but they are not
If i was you i would either get a betta and some pygmy cories or maybe some shrimp for that tank with plants and some wood with java moss , and java ferns

IMO the tank is too small for ottos as they will need loads of things to rasp on. go for pygmy corries and a betta or pygmys and small rasboras.

if you want a cold water tank you can put WCMM in cold water if aclimatisation is slow. and also danios if your water temp is stable 20 oc.
you could have 2 honey gouramis as a centre peice
6 WCMM's as they produce little waste.
and some ottos if you have lots of surfaces that need hovering of algae
