No... I've chucked a variety of (same species) fish into one tank, & got a variety of (same species) fish as a product of these.... No danger (or luck) that the guppy will have any impact, but the sailfin will.
o well i thought id have a new invention of fish in my tank lol apart from swordtails , balloon mollys , guppys , sailfin mollys are there other livebearers or is that it?
You can expect some of your fish to look as strange as the mis-shapen balloon mollies. It is my understanding that the genetic defect causing a balloon molly is dominant so if the adults are not crosses, the next generation will look like balloons. After that generation, only half the genetic material will carry the balloon defect so not all will look like balloons. Some will be perfectly normal looking mollies because they won't have that gene.
