all mollies can breed there just variations within the species, also they can (although doesn't very often end up with successful fry) breed with guppies

yes this happens all the time, they sometime also go after rasboura and dainio's!!!!

A balloon molly is the same species as a normal molly. The reason they look different is that they are carrying a defective gene mutation. The gene defect makes them take on that shape. It's fine if you like it but it is a gene that has mutated in what would otherwise be a perfectly normal molly. There is no question of crossbreeding involved since they are both the same thing, mollies.
I bet you can't even tell that I don't personally care for the balloon molly shape. LOL

lol its ok im a bit gutted one of my female guppys just died she was giving birth no babys just the first and died it was just starting to come out im realy gutted poor thing she must of been in agony ,i once did a c-section on a fish that died giving birth to try to save the babys gross i know but why should they die too but they were dead so not done it with this one .i wont do that again ever it was sick

Sorry for topic stealing, but does anyone know if a:

Female Lyrefin Molly

Will mate with a

Male sailfin Molly??

I hope so, i got him a girl, so he would calm down and not be so skittish. All my LFS are completly out of female sailfins.
Anyone?

They can, and likely will. Not all mollies are the same species, and some are hybrids. I don't know the exact distinctions, but all the species are closely related and will readily cross, so it doesn't make much difference, really. Just about any livebearer will mate, even if they can't breed - my male sailfin mates with female platys, but there are never any fry from it.

You're lucky if they limit themselves to fish. My male platy has tried mating with plants, snails, rocks, the filter...

cool mollies. you can try to add more females to seperate the agression a tad.
