New Member here. I am setting up an aquarium for the first time in yearsamd am going to use live plants. I think it is the best way to go for the best look and it is something a little different. I read all about CO2, substrate and lighting and am ready to go with those. Now I am deciding on plant material to use I want to keep it a bit simple but look good. I am interested in low growing grasses on the bottom getting taller going to the sides. I also am going to put a piece of drift wood in the tank I think it would look great with moss but to not know what type. So all of you experienced people speak up and tell me what you think what would be some good plants for an over all good appearance for someone new to aquarium plants.

Guess I shuld of told you all that my tank is only 20 gallons

are you going to use CO2 and fertiliser?

good plants to try include Ambulia, Elodia, Hyrgophilla polysperma (tall) & H. ruba (short, about 6-8 inches), Swordplants (normal amazon for big plants and pygmy chain sword for small grass like plant), Vallis (either narrow or twisted or both).

grass plants:

eleocharis vivipara - tall
eleocharis parvula - short

Mosses:

java moss - easiest one
flame moss
taiwan moss
willow moss
spiky

The list goes on and they are all easy. take a look here - http://www.aquamoss.net/

All these plants can grow in low light with no CO2, all ou need is a fertiliser. If you do have CO2 and higher lighting then they will grow quicker.

thank you Aaron

how about Limnophila sessiliflora (ambulia). It is quick growing and easy, you simply cut the stem to the desired height and replant it if you want.
