This is a tank which I disconnected a long time ago, but did not empty it. (being right in front of a window getting at least 3 hrs direct sunlight. obviously the algea took over)....
I've now decided to use the tank and stripped it completely and washed it thouroughly...including the sand (gravel)
Three days later, this is what it looks like. My question is, if I empty it and leave it outside in the sun for at least 7 day, will the "spores" of algea die sufficiently not to restart, or should I just chuck away the gravel?? (I'll feel silly boiling it)
It's like little hairy (furry) balls of algea sticking to the gravel....
