We really need some more information.
How big is your species tank and how long has it been set up? Did you cycle it?
Water stats (ammonia/nitrite/nitrate) would be very useful.
Getting really huge with scale damage and then dying could well have been dropsy. It's usually caused by poor water quality and usually fatal. The blood coming from the anus would have been from the rupture of an internal organ, and the resulting shock and blood loss caused the fish to die. Bloating can also be caused by constipation or impaction usually due to poor diet - what do you feed, how often and how much?
Some photos of the fish would be very helpful. It's not unheard of for them to become impacted with fry, sort of like females of other species will get eggbound if they don't get the opportunity to spawn. I don't know why it happens or how to treat it because it's never happened to one of my fish. But if we get photos we can tell you whether they are pregnant or have dropsy.
Hard to tell... the water stats are perfect and you feed them well. It seems odd that the male isn't sick. How big are the fish? Very large strains of livebearers often have longer gestations. It's particularly obvious in mollies, the small strains go for 4 weeks and the big sailfins drop every 8 or 9 weeks. Those platies are very, very big though and have oddly shaped bellies for pregnancy.
Yoo hoo! Wilder!

I still think she is just heavy pregnant, do you have a trap you could place her in overnight?
If so, put her in, out the lights and let her settle, giv it 48 hours max, if still no drop, release her...
I still recommend feeding her the pea to be on the safe side

i do have a trap but they just stress them out too much for my likeing, plus i have 3 other pregnant ones that are all similar sizes so other than out of interest what benefit would this have? i will feed the pea though.
