Hi guys and girls. Hope somone can help me with a problem i hav wit the suction and current from my submerserble pump. When ichigo gets close to the above mentioned filter it sucks him agains it and keeps him there but he also does not fight it and wil stay there even after i chase him away 4rm there. As this pump isnt a 'waterfall hang on the back type' . Ichigo is recovering from a bad case of tail rot. Any help would be appreciated thanks in advance.
Ps the filter does 180litres an hour but its used in a 22litre tank and another 1 in a 13litre tank(medical tank)

for one try sewing , very tightly, a pair of very small hole mesh netting or maby a pair od panty hose with larger holes? anyway try going to a craft store to get the netting, this will help to keep his fins from getting sucked in side. one of my baby cts did tat when he jumped a divider in to a free spot the wasnt mest for a baby so small. he is still recovering from it, and his fins never quite looked the same
you could try and get a decoration or plant and put it directly around the suction,, that way it might break up the current, if all else fails try a different filter?

Last night i tried cutting a plastic jar so that it covered the filter but then filtration was a problem. The filter works on a venturi system to airate the water. Unfortunately money is an issue at the moment so buying another filter is out of the question at the moment. Il try the mesh idea over weekend as i cannot get off from work to do these things. Thanks

Buy some plastic mesh of some sort, I usually find it in the craft section of any store. You can cut that to fit around the intake and it will still allow water flow.

Just to add to this thread instead of making another...
I have a filter that is external and kinda like a waterfall effect. I need to slow it down for my females, even though it looks like they might enjoy letting it carry them around sometimes, almost like a roller coaster. I'm planning on getting some pantyhose while I'm at work, would I put this over the intake, or where the 'waterfall' is?

Waterfall type filters are covered in the pinned section...about the mesh should i put in such a way that the mesh and the filter are apart as if it were close it would just suck ichigo in again...and not chopping the rotor would help with the current? And will this effect the guarantee?

can you get us a picture so we know a little more of what we are working with?

Yip i can get a pic. When i get home later il upload the pic of the filter with him(ichigo) stuck to it hopefully if he has not decided 2 visit the pearly gates.

here are 2 pics of the filter with ichigo stuck to it.

well either you can get a new pair of panty hose and slide it over the whole filter and tie it off to try and slow the sucton, or you could get needlepoint backing from the craft store, and with very small zip ties make a mesh box to go around the filter...like so. the dots are the lines of the box behind the filter.

you could also just get a tank divider and divide off the filter from the rest of the tank, leaving an inch or so between the divider and the filter, it would still filter ok but just not get the betta trapped.

not if you use a mesh material, if you used a bit of plexiglass yes, but I have my girls tank divided and they get good filter flow all the way threw.
