Hi there

I lost a betta a few days ago, and once I had sorted the tank, thought I would get another, there were plenty to choose from, but I was drawn to this one...know his colouring is not unusual, but I just saw him....and wanted him :)

Is he a VT...looks to be a young one and is quite small at the moment, the girl in the shop said its a female...lol....sorry and hope I am not being clever here, but hes a he...a boy, soon to be a man hopefully!

hmm.... It does look veiltail, although it may be spade tail... I think im leaning more towards spade though :)
 
with the top and lower edge curving in its suggests spade tail.
 
I'd say definitely a male but he looks almost eggy - I can't blame them for thinking he's a female really! FAT! Cute though... I luv him.
 
^^ Spade tails aren't a recognized strain-- it's likely a very recessive trait to a SD/HM x VT...so that's probably why you don't see them often.
