Once the plants go in, i think i might be quite happy

Thanks for the comment. I am adding some plants this weekend and putting on some black background, i have not had huge success with plants before but am hopeing my mix of complete substrate which is like peat and sand will be ok. My lfs has a great range of plants, i am starting with tall stuff, can anyone advise on what would grow well and not be to messy.

I'd line the back up with a Vallisneria species. Do really well in medium-hard water. Provide some root tabs and you should be ok. Other plants to try in low light tanks are Crypts (left long enough and they can grow tall). Also Ambulia and Water Sprite.

Thanks, not sure what any of them looks like  , but i will ask the shop, one day i would love to have what i have seen in other tanks where the botton looks like it is covered in grass, like a lawn.

Basic learning first and then with the right knowledge, help and equipment you can most certainly achieve a 'lawn'.

I put the first plants in today, i hope these are all truely aquatic, as that is what my lfs have told me. They have only been in for a couple of hours and the fish seem to love it. I think this might get expensive as i want loads more plant and i priced up a cheapy CO2 system, its only £15 with £6 additional canisters. I hope my standard juwel light is up to the job.

I think a bigger piece of wood might be in order :good: , The wood in at the moment is made up of two pieces that i brought a long time ago, i really don't like the shape of them and honestly don't think i could arrange them any better than they are.
