This is Colin’s crib.
It’s a 30L bow-front, 1foot (12”) by 1 foot (12”) by 1 foot (12”)

It is planted.
Lots of Java Fern to the left.
Three or Four anubias nana to the right.
And the odd moss ball that moves about.

Colin is an ‘extended line bred crown tail’
Colin currently shares it with four endlers and a snail.
However they are just temporary tank-mates.

Eventually going to get some more moss balls and some dwarf/micro rasbora.

Hope you like it, sorry for quality, taken on phone.
I hope all like and leave nice comments.

Looks great. lol he seems so small in there right now.

Personally I would add some sort of cave or rock structure in the front of the tank. looking really good. Definitely the start to a good looking tank. keep us updated.

His only a baby, maybe 5 months old at the very most. But he sure does take advantage of the space, a big improvement from the jar he was in. I wanted to get a giant gene for that size tank, but got impatient, saw him and liked him a lot

I will post updates in the next two weeks or so, with the moss ball additions.
What do you all think on my planting levels, should I add more, and what of?

By the way, ReMz, I like your sig work :good:

He looks great, looks like he is loving all that space, are you thinking of adding anthink else fish wise?

I was thinking maybe 8 micro/dwarf rasbora (Rasbora espei / Rasbora hengeli)
And something for the bottom, maybe 8 cherry shrimp?
*Taking out the endlers of course.

How does that sound, do you recon?

he looks great! and he has such a lovely tank...actually he looks like a male i have about 6 or 7 months back but my guy was hoooge.

I always go with Pygmy cory for the bottom, the bettas don't seem to bother them and they are quick if the decide to have ago, shimp can tend to just get eaten lol

I'd go with Otos, take a look at my setup, it's quite similar to yours really

Glad to see someone with a nicely planted tank too - I agree with ReMz, I think you need a focal point for the decor.

Also, he's a very nice looking betta, good find

His quite a placid chap, just swims around and occasional flares at himself.
He has not gone for any of the endlers once, and they are quite pushy and daring.

Also dont think my tank is established enough for otos yet.
Will look into pgymy cories though.
And definably think about a focal point of some sort, any ideas for one?

*And Million, your tank is lovely, i think planted is the way to go.

Thanks Joshy. My tank is also quite new (2 months), and the otos are doing fine, but I have heard that they can be fragile. I was going to go for pygmy corys too, but the LFS couldn't get them, and I read that a tank with a larger footprint than ours is better (wider rather than tall) as they are bottom feeders.

For the focal point, i've just got a big bit of bogwood which i'm growing plants all over. You could just as well use a rock or stacks of rocks, or an ornament if you're that way inclined (although I personally like to keep it natural) - just try out some stuff, I find it helps to sketch ideas first

I like the otos with my betta as well. No problems at all. I just plop in an algae wafer every once in a while.
